The opening of the regional symposium on the challenges facing Human Rights protection in
the context of the regional instability Participants calls for protecting Human Rights Defenders
The works of the regional symposium on the the challenges facing Human Rights protection in the context of the regional instability was launched at 9 am in Cairo (Egypt), the symposium is organised by the Arab Organization for Human Rights (AOHR) and the Arab Program for Human Rights Activists (APHRA), to deepen the CSOs discussion on the challenges of the Wars and armed internal conflicts, and challenges of Terrorism and unbalanced Countering Terrorism measures, as well as the increasing constraints on the freedom of the Human Rights activists in general and specially against the Human Rights Defenders targeted by both governments and the Non-State actors including Terrorist groups.
Opening speakers included M&s. Maha Al-Bages the chairman of the AOHR Board, Mr. Mohsen Awad on behalf of the president of the National Council for Human Rights in Egypt, Mr. Alaa Abed the chairman of the Parliamentary Commission of Human Rights in Egypt, Mr. Hagag Nael the president of APHRA and Mr. Alaa Shalaby the Secretary General of the AOHR
The opening speakers and participants addressed the impacts of the armed conflictsthat hinders all human rights aspects, leading to the primary number of refugees and IDPs all over the world, and give wide space for the terrorism groups with huge negative impacts on stability across the whole region and neighbouring countries.
Speakers has stressed the concerns regarding the gross violations of the Terrorism crimes affects mainly right to life and safety, as well as hindering human development.
Also addressed concerns over the Countering Terrorism measures which violated basic rights including safety in detention and fair trial conditions, and widened to reduce public sphere affecting freedoms of expression, assembly, association and led to impose greater constraints on Human rights activists.
Participants has welcomed the announcement of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission of Human Rights on launching the initiative for integrating Human Rights culture in Education different stages, including Basic, Secondary and Higher Education.
The symposium works continue all day to discuss different aspects.
